Apple CEO Tim Cook says he is standing by hundreds of Apple immigrant employees brought to the United States as children who have been shielded from deportation by a program President Donald Trump might eliminate.

Cook tweeted Sunday that “250 of my Apple co-workers are #Dreamers. I stand with them. They deserve our respect as equals and a solution rooted in American values.”

Trump is expected to announce that he will end protections for young immigrants who were brought into the country illegally as children — but with a six-month delay, according to reports by several media outlets, citing anonymous sources familiar with the situation.

The delay in the formal dismantling of DACA would be intended to give Congress time to decide whether it wants to address the status of the so-called Dreamers in legislation, the Associated Press reported. But it was not immediately clear how the six-month delay would work in practice and what would happen to people who currently have work permits under the program, or whose permits expire during the six-month stretch.

Cook and the CEOs of Facebook, Microsoft, Google and other companies have put pressure on Trump to keep the program.
