Three Chinese smartphones get compared to day and all three of them bring something different and fresh to the affordable lineup. The Lenovo Z5 might not have been the truly bezel-less wonder where all the hype was created about but it has some very strong points and it gets compared against the Honor 9i and the Vivo Y83.

Slimmer bezels are the name of the game in the smartphone industry for 2018, and this trend will continue to see smartphones in 2019 and 2020. The Lenovo Z5 was teased to come with a brilliant full-screen display with no notch and no chin bezels but that was not to be as the final product indeed comes with a notch and chin.
All three smartphones have a premium body, with the Lenovo Z5 featuring a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display with a 2246 x 1080 resolution in an 18.7.9 aspect ratio. The Honor 9i has a 5.84-inch IPS LCD screen with a 2280 x 1080 resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. As for the Vivo Y83, it has the lowest resolution but the biggest display size at 6.22 inches. The Lenovo Z5 is the most powerful all of the remaining two smartphones as it features a Snapdragon 636. In comparison, the Honor 9i has a Kirin 659 while the Vivo Y83 relies on the MediaTek Helio P22. The Lenovo Z5 also ships with the most memory options, with 6GB of RAM, along with 64 or 128GB of storage but there is no space to expand that storage though the phone does come with a dual SIM card slot. The Honor 9i comes with 4GB of RAM with either 64 or 128GB of storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card slot but it will use up one SIM card slot. The Vivo Y83 comes with 32GB of internal storage with 4GB RAM and a microSD card slot that can take that existing storage up to 256GB.

The Lenovo Z5 (16 + 8MP) and Honor 9i (13 + 2MP) both have a dual-camera system at the back while the Vivo Y83 only has a single 13MP rear camera unit at the front. The Z5 also has an 8MP shooter at the front while the Honor 9i is the only smartphone out of the three to get a dual-camera system at the front as well, with a configuration of 13 + 2MP for selfies that come with bokeh effects. As for the Vivo Y83, it comes with an 8MP front-camera.

All smartphones have a battery capacity that falls in the 3000mAh range. The Lenovo Z5 has the biggest battery with a 3300mAh one, the comes the Vivo Y83 with a 3260mAh battery and last comes the Honor 9i with a 3000mAh capacity. In terms of operating systems, all devices are running customized versions of Android Oreo 8.0 and will have a different set of options in terms of customization.

The Lenovo Z5 is the most powerful smartphone in this comparison but since it has not officially landed in India, there is no way to tell if the device is going to be a decent buy in terms of its hardware. The Honor 9i is the second choice since it is slightly more powerful than the Vivo Y83. The Vivo Y83 does come with its deal of compromises but its price is such that it can become a compelling offer to those who are on a budget.
