NEW DELHI: HMD Global, the Finnish company that holds the license to manufacture Nokia branded smartphones announced that the Nokia 6 smartphone will receive Android 8.0 Oreo update. Recently, the company released Android 8.0 Oreo update for Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 smartphones and now it has started rolling out the official Android Oreo update for Nokia 6.
The update weighs 1,659MB in size and it brings improved power saving, refreshed settings UI and background activity manager. Along with this, the update also improves the low light image quality of the smartphone. The update will also bring the various Android 8.0 Oreo features to the smartphone which include Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Background limits, Adaptive icons, Companion device pairing, Keyboard navigation, Wide-gamut colour for apps and others.
To recall, company launched the Nokia 6 in June last year in India. Exclusively available on Amazon, the smartphone is selling at Rs 14,999. The device comes with a 5.5-inch full HD with 1080×1920 pixels resolution. The display is made scratch resistant with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass.
The Nokia 6 is runs Android 7.0 Nougat and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with Adreno 505 GPU. The device offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The users can further expand the storage by adding a microSD card.
In terms of camera capabilities, the smartphone sports a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front shooter for selfies. The smartphone is backed by a 3000 mAh battery and offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options.
Nokia 8 which is the flagship smartphone of the company was the first one to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update. The company released the update for the handset last year in October.
Recently, HMD Global also revealed that it will soon being the beta program of Android 8.0 Oreo operating system for its budget smartphone Nokia 3.
