A multi-million dollar grant is helping a central Ohio tech company create the transportation of the future.
After helping to revolutionize the farming industry with the self-driving tractor, local IT company Pillar Technology is working to develop the technology for autonomous cars.
“It’s like with restaurants where we tend to be a big test market the same thing is going to happen in these higher technology areas like autonomous cars,” Matt Van Vleet with Pillar Technology said.
The move comes after Governor John Kasich signed an executive order making Ohio a test bed for autonomous cars.
The company also received a $2 million grant from JobOhio to create a research and design facility.
The location is yet to be determined but developers have promised it will be in central Ohio. The center will also allow engineers to test develop and test the cars inside a controlled environment
